One of the classic design guidelines for homepage usability is to not include an active link to the homepage on the homepage. Of course, some sites chose to leave out the 'Home' option from their navigation. But, if you do include a "Home" link as part of your regular navigation bar, it shouldn't be clickable on the homepage. If the 'Home' text link or button is clickable, some users will inevitably click it, instead to click on an important 'call to action', for example. Of course, this can negatively impact your sites conversion and usability for multiple reasons which we will not cover here.
